It's a good thing Professor Sprout taught this instead of Professor Snape... because he couldn't keep his lily alive. What's very intriguing to me is that according to what I have read, Quirrell was actually sorted into Ravenclaw house when he himself was a Hogwarts student many years ago. Slytherin had always had a reputation of being a house that was home to wizards who turned to the Dark Arts. However, it is not the house that determines our fate. Our destiny is made by us and us alone. Why? Earlier on in this movie, Ron whispered to Harry shortly before they were sorted, There's not a witch or wizard who went bad that wasn't in Slytherin. Nobody knew it at the time, of course, but Quirrell becoming a devout follower of Lord Voldemort showed that what Ron said wasn't always the case.
